NHS Health Checks

The practice is two years into a national five year programme of Health Checks for patients aged between 40 and 74 which help to identify potential risks early.  By having this check and following the advice of our health professionals, you improve your chances of living a healthier life.  If you have a family history of heart disease, stroke, type 2 diabetes or kidney disease you may be more at risk.  Over the next three years we will be sending written invitations to patients in this age range, whose records show an increased risk of any of these conditions, to come in for a Health Check.  Firstly we will ask you to have a blood test with our phlebotomist or healthcare assistant. The check itself will take about 20 minutes with our practice nurse, who will ask some simple questions, record your weight and height, age and sex, and take your blood pressure.  You will be taken through your results and told what they mean, and be given personalised advice on how to lower your risk and maintain a healthy life style.
